Blake Hamster is a one-year-old, green fashion line. But don’t be fooled by its soft and cuddly name. Munich designer Mathias Wrba uses organic cotton and carbon neutral packaging, yet rather than weave the former into whispery, nude-hued clothing like many an eco-friendly label, she mixes in Seacell (a silky, seaweed-infused fabric) for a collection of inky, draping pieces. To wit: T-shirts and amorphous tops boast obscure, water-based silk screens—created in collaboration with German designers, illustrators, photographers, and musicians—and are tailored in limited quantities by Italy’s Confezioni Barbon (Chanel, Marni, Jil Sander).
