Bow Your Head…A Great Man Has Passed!!

Iconic French designer Yves Saint Laurent died today at the age of 71. Saint Laurent began his fashion career as assistant to Christian Dior and became head designer at 22 after Dior’s death in 1957. In 1962 Yves Saint Laurent founded his eponymous label. Saint Laurent is one of the most celebrated fashion designers of the 20th century and he is credited with making the women’s trouser a staple. He is also famous for, among other things, his Mondrian collection, dressing Catherine Deneuve in Belle du Jour and Le Smoking (famously worn by Bianca Jagger on her wedding day). He was the first living designer honored by the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The fashion and art world suffered a great loss today. Yves Saint Laurent’s contributions will be felt for decades to come.

Midnight Hour Remixes

This is a video from a couple of years back of Pharrell of the Neptunes producing a beat for Star Trak Artist Natasha Ramos. This to me is a dope look at how Pharrell puts together a beat. I’m not sure about Natasha Ramos‘s career, I believe she got signed to Star Trak in a group with Vanessa Marquez, but later got her own solo deal. Also there are a couple of remixes to the song that you can download as well.

The Roots Live

If you love The Roots the way that I do, and know how life changing a Roots concert is then you will love this site TheRootsLive.com. The Site is basicly an audio archive of The Roots concerts since 1994, with a lot of different versions of some of their classic music like ‘Silent Treatment’ Dub Version that The Roots performed in ’02 at the Palms Casino. I picked that song to post because as much as I love The Roots, they never really do this joint, and I feel is got to be one of the greatest tracks they’ve ever made to me. So if you guys listening out there can you drop us at RockBox some ‘Silent Treatment’ Friday May 30th at The Chicago Theatre?! Peace

If U Luv Jordans

jordan-brand-six-rings-1.jpg

While it seems as though Jordan Brand has slowed down with its retro releases, replacing some of your favorite classics is an influx of hybrid models referencing both other out of Jordan Brand models such as the Air Force 1 as well as collective creations utilizing popular Jordans. One of these recent hybrid instances is the Six Rings which includes many obvious references to models such as the XI, XIII and VII. Starting off things is an iconic Bulls colorway, set to release on August 16th.
